Congratulations to Bill Tompkins for being appointed Interim President and CEO at the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) in Maryland. Previously, Bill served as MCEDC's Chief Operating Officer. The organization is the official public-private economic development organization representing Montgomery County, Maryland. It was created in 2016 to help businesses start, grow, and relocate in Montgomery County by helping them gain access to top talent, business and market intelligence and prime locations.

Many of us are interested in accelerating global revenue growth or careers in global business. Paul Adler, Principal of Paul Adler LLC, was interviewed by the University of Maryland Robert Smith School of Business about gaining Global Fluency. Global Fluency is the ability to understand and collaborate across the complexities of language, culture, and multiple time zones. Business success is about relationships. Naomi Mercer has start a new position as Senior Vice President, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at American Bankers Association. Previously, Naomi served as Chief, Command Policy, Army Staff in Washington, D.C. She recently retired from the U.S. Army.

Mary Gotschall is now Director of Business Development at Advancea, an association advisory firm that focuses on helping clients form engaging and successful relationships with their members. Advancea is based in Washington, D.C. Previously, Mary was Strategic Accounts Manager at ABC Imaging in Alexandria, Virginia.

Phil Hutinet, Founding Publisher of East City Art, gave a presentation on "CONFLUENCE: Two Rivers One City" at the Alper Initiative for Washington Art at American University Museum, Katzen Arts Center, on August 6, 2019. CONFLUENCE is East City Art's annual anthology of critical arts writing which covers the visual arts in the DC region.

Hank Dearden is pleased to report that his NGO ForestPlanet has been chosen by the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) to be part of their Championship weekend, August 10-11 in San Jose, California. The AUDL and Arista Networks pledged to have 50,000 trees planted to help offset the carbon footprint of the weekend’s activities. More information can be found on the AUDL website. Hank hopes that this partnership will be the first of many, and that other sports, concerts, and entertainment venues will follow the AUDL's lead. Tracey DeWeese is now Technical Supervisor, Big Data - Data Consumption at GEICO, which builds on her extensive experience working in the automotive software and technology business. Congratulations!

Christa Davis, Founder and Owner of Christa Davis Coaching, has joined the WNG Women's Leadership Forum's steering committee. Christa is a career and leadership coach, and she spoke to the WNG in July 2018 on the topic "Playing Big to Achieve Professionals Success." On September 26, she returns to speak to the WNG on the topic: "Love it or Leave it: Moving Your Career Forward." We are very pleased to have her on WLFs' leadership team. Welcome aboard!

Tony Harvin is now Vice President of Marketing Strategy at Young Marketing Consulting based in Arlington, Virginia. Previously, Tony was Director, Marketing, Sales and Licensing at Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Young Marketing Consulting was founding by fellow WNG Member Tim Young, who recently spoke on a panel convened by our WNG Entrepreneur Roundtable, which addressed "Going Independent: Creating and Building a Business."

Ewan Campbell is now Portfolio Operations Director at AvalonBay Communities where he oversees a portfolio of apartment home communities with various asset types - including mid-rise, high rise, and garden style - and leads a team of general managers and community managers. Previously, Ewan was General Manager for Washington DC Northern Virginia Baltimore at BridgeStreet Global Hospitality where he oversaw the largest markets in their North American operations portfolio.

Boban Markovic, who is a Senior Analyst at Institute of International Finance, recently presented his views on Kuwait's attractiveness as a destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) and Kuwait's economic outlook in an article titled "Kuwait and FDI: More reform, regulation needed" (pages 9-11) in the June 2019 issue of the The Investor. Additionally, Boban is a member of the WNG Emerging Leaders Forum steering committee.

Philip Gollucci is now Director of Solutions Architecture at T-Rex Solutions in Greenbelt, Maryland. Previously, he was Director of Software Engineering and prior to that Director of Cloud Technology, both positions at Capital One in Tysons, Virginia. Additionally, Philip is an active member of The Apache Software Foundation, serving as a helper, evangelist, and serial coder for many critical projects.

David Givens is now President-elect of the National Capital Area Chapter of the US Association for Energy Economics (NCAC-USAEE), assuming leadership of the organization on August 1st. Congratulations! Currently, David serves as Vice President of the association. Additionally, he is Head of Gas and Power Services, North America, at Argus Media, where he is leader of editorial team that examines natural gas markets.

Patrick King, Founder of Imagine, a marketing agency for tourism, local governments and nonprofits, received some ink (and digits) from Prince William Living in an article titled "IMAGINE Shows Businesses How To Give their Marketing a Purpose" - Kudos!
