WGR Post-Election Summit: A Breakthrough Year for Women
Women in Government Relations (WGR) presents:
"WGR Post-Election Summit: A Breakthrough Year for Women"
Join WGR for a post-election event like no other. 2021 is truly proving to be a year of breakthrough opportunities for women across the country. 141 women have been elected to Congress—breaking the record number of 131 female lawmakers in 2019. We will hear from Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle on how women achieved this and what it means for Congress.
In the year that we celebrated the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote, women showed that they have the power to continue to make history. It was a breakthrough year, and a record number of women are standing on the glass shards to prove it.
2021 is truly proving to be a year of breakthrough opportunities for women across the country. In addition to the amazing organizing work of Stacey Abrams in Georgia and the election of the first woman vice president, 141 women have been elected to Congress—breaking the record number of 131 female lawmakers in 2019. As of November 23rd, 410 women have won races in state legislatures, and at least 21 women won statewide executive office. More women ran for office nationwide than ever before.
We have so much to celebrate! Join us on January 28, 2021 for our Post-Election Summit: A Breakthrough Year for Women. During this 90-minute virtual summit, WGR members will get an insiders’ perspective directly from notable female trailblazers to help you to find a path for your own future success in our field.
The event will feature two female Congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle sharing their perspectives on the historical representational gains by women and minorities, their insight on upcoming legislative priorities, how women in key positions of leadership might change legislative outcomes, and how women will work together to find common ground to advance legislation in the new Congress.
In addition to hearing from the Congressional leaders about the runs, jumps, and leaps they experienced in 2020 and expect in 2021, we will feature breakout panels that are designed to help you run, jump, and leap into your future plans and priorities. Want to run for office? Want to find a job in the new Administration, Federal agency, or Capitol Hill? Want to get that promotion at work that eludes you? Let 2020 inspire you to explore what opportunities, resources, and guidance exist that will help you have a breakthrough year in 2021 and beyond.
