"The Energy Workforce in Transition or Will the Green New Deal Take Your Job?"

Presenter: Joel Yudken, Principal and Founder of High Road Strategies, LLC.

Dr. Yudken will first provide a brief overview of the  findings of the 2019 U.S. Energy & Employment Review put out yearly by the National Association of State Energy Officials and the Energy Futures Initiative. He then will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing workers in the energy extraction, generation and consuming industries. A particular focus will be on the concerns and positions of energy workers, as well as labor organizations representing them, in response to clean energy initiatives such as The Green New Deal.

About the Presenter:  Joel S. Yudken, Ph.D. is principal and founder of High Road Strategies, LLC, Arlington, VA, an economic policy research, analysis and design consultancy since 2006, with a focus on manufacturing, energy and workforce issues. Clients have included not-for-profit policy and environmental organizations, business associations, labor organizations, universities, and think-tanks. His most recent publication is titled, A Federal Policy Agenda for Revitalizing America’s Manufacturing Communities.
