Global Marketing Communications - What PR Pros Should Know About China's Digital Revolution

In China, Facebook, Twitter, and Google are blocked. Instead, consumers use WeChat, Weibo and Baidu. These technologies have evolved alongside consumer behaviors to create a vastly different digital ecosystem unfamiliar to most Americans.

China's language, culture, government, and technology ecosystem are vastly different from those of the United States. At the same time, the people of China and the people of America are both grappling with many of the same issues, such as how digital technology can make our lives better despite new distractions, and how to ensure that fast-moving information is trustworthy.

With so much global influence, does China reflect the future of digital? This workshop will explore what marketing communications and public relations professionals can learn from China's digital transformation. Which trends will make their way from East to West, and which are uniquely Chinese? What should global clients know about how to engage Chinese people, both in China and around the world?

In 2018, presenter Anthony Shop was awarded an Eisenhower Fellowship to study trends in digital and social media in China. Communication University in China appointed him to the position of Senior Research Fellow, where he recently spent a month. Join PRSA for an exclusive discussion on global digital trends, with a focus on China, and what they mean for marketing communications and public relations professionals.
