About the Job

Henderson Group Unlimited Inc., a government contractor, has an immediate opening for a Defense Controls Analyst. This position is located in Washington DC, at the Department of State, in the Office of Defense Trade Controls Licensing (DTCL), one of four offices in the Directorate for Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). DDTC is responsible for administering the export control of commercial exports of defense articles and defense services covered by the U.S. Munitions List, in accordance with the International Traffic in Arms regulations (ITAR) and the Arms Export Control Act (AECA).

The incumbent serves as a Defense Controls Analyst in the Firearms Division. In this position the incumbent reviews and evaluates proposed munitions export requests, as well as manufacturing, technical and distribution agreements to ensure compliance with the ITAR and AECA. The incumbent also evaluates and analyzes arms export policies, procedures and methods, in light of U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives, and makes recommendations for modifications to the Division Chief and senior level officials.

The incumbent should have a working knowledge of legislation affecting arms transfers, and a broad knowledge of foreign policy with particular attention to current events. Prior experience with ATF is desired.

The incumbent must have the ability to research, interpret and apply regulatory material in the process of evaluating license applications and taking final action on specific requests. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential to this position as the individual will be required to interact with representatives from the defense industry and governmental agencies, and prepare concise and persuasive presentations to support recommended courses of action.

The incumbent must have a minimum Secret security clearance.
