Job Description :

Responsible for growing the business by increasing Consulting Business Line clients and revenue, and improving the processes related to consulting marketing, sales, and engagement delivery. Growth includes the development of high potential/high value clients in public, private, and nonprofit markets. Processes include the management of consulting job materials and logistics, supervising consultants, and developing/mentoring new consultant/trainers. Contribute to marketing efforts for all BSI services and products, and lead business development for consulting and custom on-site training sales. Lead consulting, other client specific engagements and training courses.

•      Lead the Business Development function and collaborate with others to manage the consulting and custom training sales pipeline from first inquiry to close. Includes identifying strategic partnerships and improving processes and tools for business development, sales, and consulting services.
•      Work collaboratively with other business development associates to ensure prospect and client relationships are nurtured; write proposals and close sales; seek add-on sales; maintain former client relationships, etc.
•      Deliver consulting services and oversee all aspects of consulting delivery (project management, issuing Statements of Work to Associates, client scheduling, client management, materials customization and preparation, documentation of deliverables, reviewing expense reports, invoicing, ensuring acceptable cost performance of the job, and contract close-out). Includes developing improved client solutions, leading client engagements and acting in a supervisory role.
•      Sit on the management team and provide new ideas and progress reports.
•      Mentor and train staff, associates, and affiliates on consulting, business development, sales, marketing, work products, materials, processes, and procedures.
•      Contribute content for articles, blogs, and case studies for website, newsletter and slide presentations.
•      Represent BSI at conferences (e.g., as a speaker and/or via booths and networking); participate in other local business development networking opportunities.
•      Contribute to marketing and branding-related initiatives and tasks and to messaging content (new website content, e-blasts, policies, and other communications).
•      Perform as lead instructor for public and on-site training workshops.

Supervision

•      Report to Chief Operations Officer
•      Oversee work of employees and Associates on projects.

Qualifications

•      Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical or science field--system’s thinking, engineering, IT, or operations research; Master’s degree in Business or a related field.

•      Experience: Minimum 18 years of overall experience in management or related professional field. Ideally 7 or more years of experience in strategic planning/management and/or performance management, as well as extensive work in the consulting industry and in sales and business development. Project management experience preferred. Experience in government, nonprofits, and business and industry preferred.

•      Certification: Balanced Scorecard Master Professional and other professional certifications preferred (can be obtained after joining the Strategy Management Group).

•      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good understanding of human behavior, especially as related to buying decisions. Expert knowledge of strategic planning and management, balanced scorecard systems, and business models. Excellent presentation, project management, marketing, and relationship building skills. Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with specific skills in proposal writing and presenting to senior executives. Strong sales skills. Must be detail oriented, have good organizational skills and be able to multi-task. Person must operate and be comfortable working with all levels of an organization.

Physical Demands

•      Work in an office at a desk or stand on feet for long hours during workshops and training classes.
•      Uses a computer keyboard frequently.
•      Frequent travel.
•      Strong voice to speak publicly for 5 or more workdays in a row.
